Who can apply?

The ACTSmart Business recycling program is available to any business in the ACT. Depending on the nature of your business, the ACTSmart Office recycling program may be more appropriate for your situation.

How will the program help my business?

Environmental management is good business. Reducing the amount of waste your business sends to landfill can have direct benefits for business, staff and the bottom line. Here are some of the advantages:

  • can reduce costs – sending waste to a recycling centre is 50% cheaper than tipping at the landfill
  • reduces impacts on the environment which can be very important to your staff
  • helps meet corporate environmental commitments
  • provides customer recognition of your achievements through annual accreditation.

How do I access it?

To participate in ACTSmart Business simply complete the Memorandum of Understanding (PDF 93 kB)and fax or email it to get stated today.

While participating in the program, you will need to identify an implementation coordinator, conduct simple waste audits, develop a waste management plan, educate your staff, and monitor and report on your progress.

It costs nothing to participate and we provide the 10-step guide, templates, advice and other resources to help you through every step of the process.
