Actsmart Eco Challenge
The Eco Challenge is a great way to get involved in becoming more sustainable. It's an easy-to-use tool designed to help all ACT residents become more sustainable in their daily lives. Different challenges are up for grabs and each has great tips and advice on how to complete them. They're all self nominated and a whole lot of fun. With each challenge, you compete against yourself, your friends or a team from work or your community and earn emission savings for your efforts.
Thanks to the Eco Challenge ... I have now changed how I commute to work. I have reduced driving my car to one day a week and now catch the bus four days a week! The Eco Challenge has made a huge difference!
A job well done ACT Govt! - Lee.

History of the Challenge
The development of the Eco Challenge (formally known as the Carbon Challenge) has been a joint effort between the ACT Government and the Canberra Environment Centre, who first started the project in 2012 through an ACT Climate Change grant. The project was popular with Canberra residents, with hundreds of households committing to reduce their personal carbon emissions over a period of 12 months. Using this successful model, the challenge has been updated to form part of the Actsmart sustainability hub – helping ACT residents get involved in reducing their carbon footprint and ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for our city.
