Water Behaviour Change

Water testing

Are you trying to improve water behaviours at school? Here are some tips on changing behaviours, from the Water Best Practice Guide provided by Actsmart Schools:

  • make sure all staff and students know that their school is aiming to reduce water consumption
  • make sure all staff and students know what they can and should do to help
  • promote water-saving measures at assemblies, in school newsletters and other forms of communication
  • display student-designed posters, stickers and postcards featuring water-saving messages
  • nominate water monitors and reward them for their efforts
  • organise competitions and present water awards at assemblies
  • participate in water-wise events and national days such as National Water Week
  • promote water saving practices and actions with school cleaners, maintenance and grounds keeping staff
