Water Resources

Waterwatch

Actsmart Schools provides the following resources for water:

  • a Water Best Practice Guide, with step-by-step instructions and recommendations to help schools reduce water consumption and develop a Water Action Plan
  • professional learning in water efficiency and water quality for teachers, business managers and facilities managers
  • examples of best practice and case studies on sustainable water usage
  • visits from the Actsmart Schools Officers to discuss your current situation and approach to water focussed behaviour change activities
  • analysis of water usage compared to benchmarked levels.

Schools can also take advantage of the many water programs and services available in the ACT. The Waterwatch program — with free, hands-on education on environmental issues — is ideal for both primary and secondary schools. It's a great way for students and teachers to learn about the health and maintenance of our local waterways.

The ACT Government H2OK Stormwater program aims to improve water quality in ACT lakes and waterways. Find out what you can do: ACT Healthy Waterways

To access the resources above, or to get more involved at your school, email actsmart@act.gov.au or call the Actsmart Schools Officers on 6207 6430.
