Nature Conservation

Swift ParrotThe Nature Conservation Strategy outlines many actions that will help make our natural ecosystems more resilient to a changing climate. This will make sure that we can enjoy our natural environment for many years to come.

The Nature Conservation Strategy Implementation Plan 2013-18 Progress Report (2016) reports on significant progress against each action in the strategy.

We have achieved major on-ground restoration and rehabilitation through strong collaboration between the ACT Government, the Australian Government, the local and regional community and research and academic institutions.

Community volunteers help support this by donating thousands of hours of work to help manage our natural areas.  Find out more about:

  • Volunteering - a great way to make a difference, learn more about the region, get outdoors, stay fit and meet new people.
  • Environment Grants – funding for community environmental projects.
